Genervt von der sexistischen und toxischen Atmosphäre an ihrer Highschool lässt sich eine schüchterne 16-Jährige von der rebellischen Vergangenheit ihrer Mutter inspirieren und veröffentlicht anonym ein Magazin, das an ihrer Schule eine Coming-of-Age-Revolution auslöst. Amy Poehler übernahm die Regie für die Verfilmung des Romans von Jennifer Mathieu. In dem Film Moxie werden viele Kinderrechte wie das Recht auf gewaltfreies Aufwachsen, das Diskriminierungsverbot und Partizipation anschaulich thematisiert, sodass sich eine Beschäftigung im privaten, schulischen sowie außerschulischen Setting aus einer kinderrechtlichen Perspektive sehr lohnt. Die FSK hat den Film ab 12 Jahren empfohlen.

Unsere Rechte, unsere Zukunft. Ein Heft in einfacher Sprache über Kinderrechte vermittelt anhand einer illustrierten Geschichte ausgewählte UN-Kinderrechte. Die Illustrationen, Texte in einfacher Sprache und Reflexionsübungen dienen als Grundlage für den Dialog mit geflüchteten Kindern über ihre Rechte. Das Heft richtet sich vorrangig an Kinder mit Flucht- und/oder Diskriminierungserfahrungen und wird für die Altersgruppe 8 bis 14 Jahre empfohlen. Kinder können es eigenständig lesen und ausmalen, allerdings empfehlen wir, dass Fachkräfte der Sozialarbeit es mit den Kindern gemeinsam durchgehen. Ein Workshopkonzept für die Nutzung des Hefts finden Sie im Begleitheft zum Toolkit Kinderrechte & Beteiligung im Unterbringungskontext. Das Heft ist jeweils zweisprachig verfügbar in den Sprachen Deutsch/Englisch, Deutsch/Arabisch, Deutsch/Dari und Deutsch/Tigrinya. Es kann über den externen Link heruntergeladen werden.

In the movie Inside Out 2, 13-year-old Riley, who has recently started puberty, has a panic attack during a hockey game timeout. Anxiety (the emotion responsible for the panic attack) becomes completely frenzied and there is a sense Riley is losing control. After a while, Anxiety calms down and Riley’s panic attack subsides. The movie does a great job of conveying the experience of having a panic attack. But panic attacks (and anxiety) don’t just arise in teenagers – younger children can also have them. Being aware of what to look out for and how to respond to anxiety or panic is important to help you and your child better manage these scary symptoms.

Activists pledge to give their votes away to children in global campaign

A group of academics and activists have launched a global campaign to enfranchise children, by pledging to give their own votes to a young person until the voting age is significantly lowered or abolished.Some members of the Children’s Voting Colloquium have already voted on behalf of a child even if this has meant opting for a different political party or candidate of their choice.The group, which has members from 12 countries including the UK and US, claims that giving votes to children as young as six would encourage governments to tackle a range of intractable long-term issues such as the climate crisis, inequality and social care.They are urging supporters of ageless suffrage to join them in signing a new online pledge to hand over their votes to their own children or the offspring of a friend, family member, or neighbour. This booklet was created to equip young people and young climate advocates with essential tools and knowledge to engage effectively in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) processes. It provides guidance on advocating for child-sensitive climate policies, ensuring that young people’s voices are heard in shaping and strengthening national climate agendas. This booklet also includes examples of countries that are engaging young people in their NDC process. To get inspired and learn, it also includes examples of young people who have participated in NDC process.

The VOICE project, conducted by ECPAT International, Eurochild, and Terre des Hommes Netherlands on behalf of the Down to Zero Alliance, engaged children and caregivers in 15 countries to inform policy discussions on digital safety. While digital spaces offer learning and entertainment opportunities, they also present risks like cyberbullying and exposure to harmful content, constituting a violation of children's rights. The VOICE report Speaking Up For Change: Children's and caregivers' voices for safer online experiences emphasises the necessity of effective safety measures and children's participation in shaping online safety policies.
